Albus is the second child of Ginny and Harry Potter. At the time, his childhood felt rather typical until he realised – from outside sources in his toddler years – that it was not every household that had their mother’s Quidditch trophies on the mantelpiece and the periodical fear that their father would not come back home from the dangers of his job, nor called “The Boy Who Lived” by the simple three letter title of “dad”. The details of the Second Wizarding War were not presented as elements of history but anecdotes of parents, grand-parents, aunts and uncles and family friends, most of which Harry in particular did not find his children old enough to hear. Hogwarts adventures were told with less reticence and much enthusiasm, and Albus agreed heartedly with his brother and sister of their willingness to partake in such actions which they understood not the danger. Until Albus was six years old, the details of the war were mostly limited to things he knew happened but unsure as to what had happened; that he knew Harry, Hermione and Ron were particularly celebrated for it, but did not exactly know why (nor had he ever wondered as to why they were before his cousin Rose pointed it out). Their prying of not-so-accurate information earned them a premature account of the event, from which the gore and most of the death was censured out. For a brief moment, Albus saw the world as much more dangerous than her had previously conceived it, but he was rapidly convinced otherwise: his family had made sure to drive all the evil out.    

In 2016, it was Albus’s turn to go to Hogwarts and be sorted into a house. The ordeal made him rather nervous, as James had continuously been teasing that he would be sorted into dreaded Slytherin. It was not unheard of James bringing up this possibility for the pleasure tormenting his younger brother, but his mention of this increased with every passing day since his return from Hogwarts. James recollected his observations of Slytherin students and claimed them to be most like Albus. Two things had managed to calm him down a bit: the presence of his cousin, Rose, and his father’s recollection of his own sorting. The fact that Harry was himself could have been sorted into Slytherin gave him consciousness of two things, two choices. But what choice was to be his; that of choosing the standard house or that of freeing himself from the dictates of familiar people over what was or was not suitable for him? Either way, Albus was no longer afraid of being himself. He desired his true colours to show, and he found out that they were green. Although convinced that his family would still love him despite this, the walk from the stool to the Slytherin table was nonetheless an uncomfortable one in which Albus perceived judgement and disapproval in the unusually quiet and dazed approbation he received.  

It did not take too long for Albus to realize the merits of the Slytherin house and its subtle traits, but he still had little trust for the others in his house and a little bit of shame. In his third year, he declined the offer of being the Slytherin Seeker several times before his parents convinced him to take it; that it did not matter if he played against the red they had supported. Albus became increasingly comfortable about being Slytherin during his second and third years, a long process that was all but destroyed following the death of Kingsley Shackleboot and the rumors of Death Eaters. Shame – an old friend – had returned, along with something he had not yet felt about being in Slytherin: fear. If the Death Eaters had really returned and wanted to somehow get back at Harry, he would be an easy target. Trust for his slithery classmates had disappeared, becoming tense even with the few friends he had made in Slytherin.

       • Personality:

Albus is a well-tempered boy, most of the time. He usually sports a calm smile, with the corners of his mouth up-turned, giving him a small spark of unintentional mischievousness. Albus talks with others without apparent issue but prefers to stick with those he already knows. In his first year he noticed how some would approach him and, knowing about his family, act as though they already knew something about him, which in their minds qualified their being automatic friends. From this he noticed the development of shallow friendships and, as such, Albus is weary of those who desire to establish friendship at a pace he considers indecent. Albus is rare to show his anger, but when annoyed his tone becomes rather condescending, brash, and aggressive. Thankfully, this does not occur often. Albus is a private person while not being shy. He holds dear to being rewarded by his own merit. Despite having a strong instinct of self-conservation, Albus has a like for adventure and will fold to the notion of self-sacrifice for others (it appears to be a family value). His modesty is often exaggerated, as though thinking pride inappropriate. Albus has a rather defensive personality and is prone to continue things rather than start them. He has many of his house’s qualities, such as cunningness and ambition, which he has toned down for some reason, especially when compared to his attitude in previous years.

Alaric has been described as a haughty and "derpy" bird. He is aggressively affectionate and acts as though he wants to rule everyone. Of course, Albus is the dear human the Alaric owns and towards whom he is most loving.

    -  Is usually nicknamed "Al" by those close to him, such as friends and family. He perceives their naming him by "Albus" as an indicator of seriousness or severity, while the usage of his nickname by those known little to him feels like a perverse move.

    - Albus has ambivalent feelings about being named after two dead guys

    - Does not think that Slytherin is love

    - Herbology is his favorite class, mostly because Neville Longbottom, being a family friend and his godfather, is his favorite teacher. Potions, on the other hand, is his best class - having a natural affinity for it - and he also finds astronomy existentially satisfying. He hates Divination with a passion (he took it in his third year) and considers Arithmancy as being in the same league as Divination (he does enjoy math, though).

    - Visits Hagrid with his siblings and cousins every now and then.

    - Unless a special occasion necessitates students to sit at their house table, Albus can be often seen eating at the Gryffindor table

    - Believes on an unconscious level that the saying “not all Slytherins are death eaters, but all death eaters are Slytherin” is rather accurate

    - Has bad eyesight but prefers to correct it with contacts. He does own glasses though, but he dislikes wearing them, even if it would save him from sting of contact lenses.

    - His being in Slytherin has become somewhat of a lighthearted joke among certain members of his family (Harry not among them). James has been known to have gone overboard in the past
